Fresh details have emerged surrounding the heartbreaking death of Nairobi youth mobiliser Cecil Ouma, revealing the events that unfolded just before he was fatally shot inside a vehicle linked to Youth Affairs Principal Secretary Fikirini Jacobs.
According to witnesses, Ouma had played a key role in mobilising young people to attend a government youth empowerment meeting held in Kariokor. After the event came to an end, a disagreement reportedly arose over transport reimbursement that had been provided to the group.
People who were present claimed that several youths felt the money offered was too little. They then requested Ouma to approach the Principal Secretary and return the cash while explaining their concerns.
Only a few moments later, confusion broke out. Witnesses said they noticed unusual movements inside the vehicle before hearing a loud gunshot.
The vehicle's door reportedly opened suddenly, and Ouma fell onto the road with serious injuries before the convoy drove away. He was rushed to hospital, but doctors confirmed that he had died from the gunshot wound.
The shocking incident has sparked widespread grief and anger among young Kenyans, with many demanding a transparent investigation.
Police have since questioned several people, including security officers attached to the Principal Secretary, while firearms recovered from the officers are expected to undergo forensic examination as detectives work to establish exactly what happened.
As investigations continue, Ouma's family, friends, and supporters are calling for justice, insisting that everyone involved should cooperate fully so that the truth behind the tragic incident can be established without delay.
