Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has publicly dismissed claims that Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino are more likely to take over national leadership.
Speaking on Thursday, October 23, 2025, Salasya said he is the most qualified, emphasizing his direct engagement with Kenyans across the country.
In a video shared on his social media accounts, Salasya criticized his fellow politicians for lacking a record of real development.

He said they “talk a lot but do very little” while highlighting his own efforts in visiting communities and promoting his manifestos to citizens directly.
“I am the one who should lead because my politics is about action on the ground, not just social media noise,” Salasya stated.

He further said that Sifuna and Owino should support his leadership ambitions instead of competing with him.
“I am development-focused, and those who want to lead must work with me to make a real difference,” he added.
Salasya’s statements come shortly after political analyst Barrack Muluka identified Sifuna, Babu Owino, and Caleb Amisi as emerging young leaders within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

According to Muluka, these leaders are being watched to see if they can step up and continue the legacy of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
“Leaders like Sifuna, Owino, and Amisi have potential, but the real question is whether they can unite and carry forward Raila’s vision,” Muluka said.

He noted that the future of ODM will depend on how these young politicians handle challenges after Raila’s era, stressing the importance of collaboration over division.
Salasya, however, remains confident in his approach. He claims his hands-on work in the communities gives him an edge over other young leaders.

“I don’t just make promises online; I go to the people, understand their problems, and offer solutions. That is why I am best suited to lead,” he said.
