Indukusi burial.Tears flowed freely as family, friends, and fans gathered in Kisa East, Khwisero, Kakamega County, to bid farewell to popular Mshamba TV actor Dickson Cholwa, fondly known by his screen name Indukusi.
The celebrated actor was laid to rest on Saturday, October 25, in an emotional ceremony that brought together hundreds of mourners from across the region.
His widow, Angel Okonyo, and their two children broke down during the funeral, leaving many in attendance in tears.
Indukusi, who was also a professional dentist, passed away after a short illness linked to liver complications.
He reportedly died while being rushed to Kakamega Referral Hospital for emergency treatment.
Fellow actor and show director Mshamba Zebedayo, who worked closely with Indukusi on the Mshamba TV comedy series, paid a moving tribute to his colleague and friend.
“It’s painful, but we surrender to God’s will. Indukusi was more than a teammate — he was family. We will miss his laughter, his brilliance, and his warm heart,” Mshamba said during the service.
A viral video shared online showed Indukusi’s widow and children crying beside the coffin as mourners sang emotional farewell songs.
Many Kenyans who watched the video on social media expressed deep sympathy and sent messages of comfort to the bereaved family.
Fans described Indukusi as a rare gem in Kenya’s comedy industry — a man who brought joy to many homes through his natural humor and talent.
“He always made us laugh, even on tough days. May God comfort his family,” one fan wrote on Facebook.
Others praised his professionalism, recalling his humble nature both on and off camera.
Indukusi’s colleagues from Mshamba TV said his passing had left a huge void in the show’s cast, promising to honour his memory by continuing to produce inspiring stories.
As the coffin was lowered into the grave, the crowd fell silent, marking the end of a journey that began with laughter and ended with tears.
Though gone too soon, Indukusi’s legacy as one of Western Kenya’s most loved entertainers will live on.
May his soul rest in peace.
