As the country approaches the 2027 General Election, the opposition is intensifying efforts to unseat President William Ruto.
Behind the scenes, strategic alignments and possible alliances are taking shape, signaling what could become one of the most competitive elections in recent history.
Recent reports suggest that Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka may have settled on Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna as his preferred running mate.
The claims were first made by Head of Presidential Special Projects and Creative Economy, Denis Itumbi, who alleged that the Kalonzo-Sifuna ticket is already in the works.
According to Itumbi, the two leaders are also linked to a new political outfit dubbed the Ukombozi Linda Mwananchi Alliance.
Sifuna, who serves as ODM Secretary-General, has recently been associated with the “Linda Mwananchi” movement—a faction that has emerged amid growing grassroots mobilization within opposition ranks.
The potential Kalonzo-Sifuna partnership is already gaining traction among voters. A recent TIFA opinion poll released on May 14, 2026, indicated that 28 percent of respondents supporting opposition candidates favor the Kalonzo-Sifuna ticket.
This places the duo ahead of other combinations, including DCP boss Rigathi Gachagua-Kalonzo Musyoka pairing, which garnered 25 percent support.
