Political Analyst Names The Only 2 Politicians That Could Unseat Ruto In 2027 Polls

Political analyst Dismas Mokua has weighed in on the growing debate over who is best placed to lead the opposition into the 2027 General Election, arguing that the field has narrowed to two serious contenders: Kalonzo Musyoka and Fred Matiang'i.

According to Mokua, the opposition faces a critical moment as it seeks to build a united front capable of mounting a strong challenge against President William Ruto.

He believes that while several leaders remain active within opposition circles, only a few possess the political experience, national appeal, and organizational capacity needed to sustain a presidential campaign across the country.

Mokua suggested that former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka remains a key figure due to his long presence in national politics and his ability to attract support from different regions.

At the same time, former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i has continued to generate interest among sections of the opposition because of his record in government and growing profile on the national stage.

The analyst was less optimistic about the prospects of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua emerging as the opposition's presidential flag bearer.

In his assessment, Gachagua's chances of securing the united opposition ticket remain limited, particularly if the coalition prioritizes a candidate with broad national reach and the ability to consolidate support beyond regional strongholds.

His remarks come as opposition leaders intensify consultations aimed at forming a common strategy ahead of the next election.

Discussions on leadership, coalition building, and candidate selection are expected to dominate political conversations in the coming months as parties position themselves for the 2027 contest.

The debate over who should carry the opposition banner continues to attract public attention, with supporters of different leaders making their case as the political landscape gradually takes shape.
