The incident is believed to be linked to a recent story aired by the media houses about an alleged fake ambulance deal connected to Harambee House. The report had raised questions about the procurement process and triggered public concern. It appears that the coverage may have angered some individuals, leading to hostility against the journalists.

Witnesses said the tension began shortly after the journalists started recording the proceedings. A section of the crowd accused them of negative reporting and attempted to block them from accessing key areas of the meeting. Efforts to calm the situation were not successful, and the confrontation quickly escalated.
