A fresh political spat has emerged between Karen Nyamu and Millicent Omanga, adding to the growing rivalry among leaders positioning themselves in Nairobi.
Nyamu, a nominated senator, made strong remarks during a public appearance, suggesting that leadership and influence in the capital should be left to those she described as closely connected to the city. The tension escalated when former nominated Senator Millicent Omanga (often called "Mama Miradi") declared her interest in the same Nairobi Woman Representative seat ahead of 2027.
Reports indicate Omanga may have shifted allegiances, potentially moving away from UDA (United Democratic Alliance) toward opposition or other alignments, amid broader political realignments.
In response, Karen Nyamu publicly reacted with a sharp, dismissive warning on social media around early February 2026. She laughed off Omanga's bid, declaring the seat as effectively hers and cautioning her rival against pursuing it.
In a widely shared post, Nyamu stated:
"So now all of you want to run for my seat in 2027? Kitakuramba, my sister.
Do not say that I did not warn you."
("Kitakuramba" is a Swahili/Kenyan slang term implying "it will backfire on you" or "you'll regret it," carrying a tone of confident dismissal or threat of political defeat.)
Nyamu further asserted that the bid would "flop" and that she was "guaranteed" the position, framing the contest as one she expects to dominate easily.
