Kasmuel Mcoure Takes On Edwin Sifuna As ODM Rift Over Broad Based Talks Deepens In Party Showdown

Kasmuel Mcoure the self proclaimed founder of the broad based youth league has launched a fierce attack on ODM secretary general Edwin Sifuna through a Facebook post.

Mcoure accused Sifuna of abandoning party discipline and serving the interests of political rivals. He warned that ODM youth were watching closely and would not tolerate actions that weaken the party.

In his message Mcoure told Sifuna to choose whether to act as party secretary general or a village elder advancing enemy interests.

He questioned why Sifuna appeared to recognize Siaya governor James Orengo as the senior leader at a public gathering despite the presence of party leader Oburu Odinga. According to Mcoure this showed misplaced loyalty and internal sabotage.

Mcoure also claimed Sifuna was holding brief for individuals he said were not members of ODM. He reminded Sifuna that he became secretary general through nomination and not a party wide election.

He further alleged that voters in Bungoma rejected Sifuna during his Senate bid which he said weakened his authority.

The youth leader accused Sifuna of failing the party on the ground including losses in key contests such as Kariobangi South. He claimed Sifuna was working to undermine Oburu Odinga who was recently installed as ODM party leader.

Mcoure warned that the secretary general would be removed at the next National Delegates Convention.

Mcoure insisted that Oburu Odinga remains the only party leader and deserves full respect from all officials. He said public statements that contradict party unity only serve opponents.

His remarks came a day after senior ODM figures publicly rejected claims that the party was negotiating entry into President William Ruto government.

On Tuesday Edwin Sifuna James Orengo and Godfrey Osotsi said ODM had not sent brokers to seek government positions.

They said the party 2027 path would be decided by members and formal structures. Orengo warned that informal arrangements with the ruling side could shrink ODM political influence.

He cited past examples where parties lost strength after joining governments without legal protection. Orengo also described the broad based government as informal and lacking constitutional backing. He said ODM officials serving within it were exposed to presidential discretion.

The sharp exchange has exposed growing tension inside ODM as debates over cooperation with Ruto administration intensify ahead of the next election cycle. Party insiders say unity tests will define its survival in coming months very.
