"Very Risky" Villagers Open Ebola Victim's Coffin, Touch Body Before Burying Him

A shocking incident has sparked concern after villagers interrupted the burial of a man reported to have died from Ebola, forcing health officials to abandon the ceremony before proceeding to handle the body themselves.

A video circulating online shows four health workers dressed in full protective gear carrying a purple coffin to a burial site in a rural village.

The officials appeared prepared to conduct a safe burial in line with public health guidelines designed to prevent the spread of the deadly virus.

However, a crowd of grieving villagers stopped them before the burial could take place. Despite efforts by the health workers to continue with the process, mourners insisted that they leave. The officials eventually departed, leaving the coffin at the site.

Moments later, villagers opened the coffin and unzipped the body bag containing the deceased. Several people touched the body with bare hands and without any protective equipment. Others gathered around to view the remains before the coffin was finally closed for burial.

Reports indicate that some villagers questioned the official cause of death, despite authorities stating that the man had succumbed to Ebola.

The incident has raised alarm among health experts and members of the public, who fear that direct contact with the body could expose mourners to infection. Ebola spreads through contact with the bodily fluids of an infected person, including those who have died from the disease.

The video has generated widespread debate online, with many calling for greater public awareness about Ebola prevention and the importance of following health guidelines during outbreaks.

Health authorities continue to emphasize that safe burial practices remain one of the most effective ways of preventing further transmission of the virus.
