ODM MP Caleb Amisi has launched a scathing attack on Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and his allies in the party's Linda Mwananchi faction, accusing them of lacking vision, objectivity, and a clear understanding of the political road ahead to 2027.
Speaking bluntly, Amisi told off Sifuna and his counterparts using the now-trending Swahili phrase "Tusikuwe wajinga kwa siasa" — loosely translated as "let's not be fools in politics" — a clear jab suggesting the faction's approach is misguided and politically naive.
According to Amisi, Sifuna and his allies within the Linda Mwananchi camp have failed to grasp the bigger political picture, accusing them of pursuing a confrontational strategy without a coherent plan or end goal as the country edges closer to the next General Election.
The remarks point to deepening cracks within ODM, with different factions appearing increasingly at odds over the party's direction, alliances, and overall electoral strategy heading into 2027.
Sifuna, who serves as ODM's Secretary-General, has been a vocal face of the Linda Mwananchi faction, often positioning the group as defenders of the common citizen against the Kenya Kwanza administration.
Amisi's comments suggest growing impatience among sections of the party with what they view as a faction more focused on rhetoric than on building a winning, objective political strategy.
The MP's remarks are likely to deepen the simmering rivalry within ODM ranks, with reactions expected from Sifuna's camp and other Linda Mwananchi affiliates who may push back against being labeled as lacking vision or direction.
As of now, Senator Sifuna and his allies have not publicly responded to Amisi's pointed remarks, though a rebuttal is widely anticipated given the increasingly tense exchanges between the two ODM camps.
