Lawyer Ndegwa Njiru has issued a strong warning following the High Court ruling on the impeachment of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, cautioning that the decision will not be accepted quietly by ordinary citizens.
In a passionate statement, Njiru alleged that those in power, whom he referred to as the big shots of Kenya, are playing a dangerous game.
He predicted that one day, hungry, angry, disappointed, discontented, frustrated, and furious Kenyans will rise up and confront judges, cabinet secretaries, members of parliament, governors, presidents, and any other oppressors from their hiding places. According to him, this will be done with finality in the pursuit of a new Kenya.
Njiru suggested that such rulings risk eroding public trust in the justice system and could fuel widespread discontent.
His message has stirred intense debate on social media, with some Kenyans echoing his frustrations over perceived judicial and political failures, while others have cautioned against inflammatory language that could incite unrest.
The statement reflects growing public anxiety about accountability and fairness in high-level governance matters.
As the case advances to the Court of Appeal, legal observers note that the appellate court faces the challenge of restoring confidence in the judiciary.
Njiru’s warning highlights the potential consequences if citizens feel that constitutional protections are being undermined by those in authority.
The ongoing impeachment saga continues to expose deep divisions in the country, raising critical questions about the future of Kenya’s democracy and the relationship between the people and their institutions.
