Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has launched a sharp attack on President William Ruto and his deputy, Kithure Kindiki, accusing them of bribing the people of Mt Kenya to win political support.
Speaking during a press conference on Tuesday, Gahagua also accused President William Ruto and his administration of trying to silence Uhuru.
He claimed that Ruto was sending junior politicians to threaten Uhuru with the withdrawal of his seerane package following his criticism of the Kenya Kwana administration.
Gachagua’s comments followed President Ruto’s recent meeting with thousands of leaders at State House Nairobi.
The former deputy president warned residents not to be tempted by the money and gifts being used to mobilise them, saying they should instead focus on their own welfare and the region’s development.
Gachagua vowed that should the United Opposition win the 2027 General Elections, they would reinstate Uhuru's seerane package if Ruto and his associates made do with the threats.
“The people of Mt Kenya should take care of their families and communities instead of falling for Ruto’s schemes,” Gachagua said, addressing a gathering in Nyeri.
He described himself as the region’s natural leader and said his supporters would not allow anyone to undermine him.
