President William Ruto and opposition leaders are set for a political face-off in Kakamega County on Saturday, with both camps planning parallel rallies just a few kilometres apart.
The the rival groups will hold separate engagements within close proximity of 5 km in Kakamega town.
President Ruto is expected to preside over the launch of the Shirikiana Sacco delegates’ meeting at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology.
At the same time, opposition leaders led by DCP Party Leader Rigathi Gachagua and will address a major public rally in the town centre, marking the second day of their tour of the Western region.
On Friday, opposition leaders urged residents to shift their support away from Ruto’s camp and back their movement.
Gachagua also criticised Prime Cabinet Secretary and National Assembly Speaker , accusing them of failing to use their positions in government to secure meaningful development for the region.
Saturday’s rallies are expected to further heighten political tensions, with both sides seeking to consolidate support in a region seen as key in determining the outcome of the 2027 polls.
The opposition will also visit Busia, Trans Nzoia before concluding their rallies on Sunday.
