"Kuna Kura ya Ruto Hapa?" What Kakamega Crowd Told Gachagua After Hitting at Ruto's Western Base

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Friday made a stopover in Kisa East, Kakamega County, as part of the opposition’s tour of the Western region.

Gachagua, who was accompanied by other opposition leaders, addressed a charged crowd where he took a swipe at President William Ruto’s support base in the region.

During his speech, he posed a direct to residents, asking whether they would support Ruto in the 2027 General Election.

In response, the crowd loudly rejected the notion, chanting in support of the emerging “Wantam” political movement.

Following the rally, Gachagua expressed confidence that President Ruto stands no chance of securing votes from the Luhya community. He claimed that Ruto had hinged hopes on Western votes.

He further alleged that the President abruptly cut short his trip to Europe upon learning that opposition leaders were planning a major political tour of the Western region.

Gachagua claimed that the political coalition that propelled Ruto to power in the 2022 General Election is steadily disintegrating.

According to him, key voting blocs including Mt. Kenya, Western Kenya, Ukambani, and Kisii have withdrawn their support due to unfulfilled promises.

He specifically accused the Kenya Kwanza administration of failing to deliver on key development pledges made to the Western region.
