MP Amisi Bows Down To Pressure, Speaks On Claims Of Being A Mole In Opposition, Slams This Leader

Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has responded sharply to claims by Kirinyaga Woman Representative Njeri Maina that he is secretly working with the government despite presenting himself as an opposition figure.

In a statement shared on social media, Amisi dismissed the allegations as an outdated political strategy often used to discredit leaders who express independent views.

He argued that the country has moved beyond petty political battles and called on leaders to focus on developing a credible alternative leadership capable of addressing the challenges facing ordinary Kenyans.

His response comes amid growing debate over his recent remarks concerning the possibility of impeaching President William Ruto. 

While Amisi had earlier attracted attention after suggesting that an impeachment motion against the Head of State should be considered, he has now expressed doubts about Parliament's ability to undertake such a process.

According to the legislator, the current National Assembly lacks the independence required to effectively hold senior government officials accountable.

He claimed that political interests and alliances within the House have weakened its oversight role, making it difficult for lawmakers to act without external influence.

Amisi pointed to the impeachment of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua as an example of how political power can shape parliamentary outcomes. 

He argued that the same institution would struggle to initiate a similar process against the President because of the existing political environment.

His remarks have sparked intense reactions from both supporters and critics. Some Kenyans have praised him for speaking openly about concerns surrounding the country's governance and the performance of Parliament.

Others, however, have questioned his consistency, noting that he supported previous impeachment efforts but is now criticizing the institution that carried them out.

Government supporters have accused the Saboti MP of seeking political attention through controversial statements, while some opposition figures have challenged his motives and commitment to ongoing political realignments.

The debate has further highlighted divisions within the opposition as leaders position themselves ahead of future political contests.
