Prominent lawyer Ndegwa Njiru has intensified calls for accountability in government, arguing that any future administration must commit itself to investigating alleged wrongdoing by current state officials.
According to Njiru, Kenya can only regain its lost international prestige and restore public confidence in its institutions if leaders are subjected to the rule of law without fear or favour.
In a strongly worded statement, Njiru said the opposition, which includes leaders such as former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, should make accountability a central pillar of its agenda ahead of the next election.
