Guardian Angel, one of Kenya’s most celebrated gospel musicians, has opened up about a painful church experience that pushed him away from attending regular services..................WATCH HIM SPEAKING DURING THIS INTERVIEW
The singer revealed that he now prefers praying privately at home instead of worshipping in church congregations.
Speaking about the incident, Guardian Angel said the experience happened when he accompanied his wife, Esther Musila, to her church.
During the service, first-time visitors were invited to introduce themselves before the congregation, a common practice in many churches across the country.
However, things reportedly took an unexpected turn when some church elders objected to him addressing the congregation.
According to the singer, the elders questioned his marriage to an older woman and argued that he should not be given an opportunity to speak publicly before worshippers.
Guardian Angel disclosed that discussions about whether he should be allowed to address the congregation lasted nearly 30 minutes.
Eventually, church leaders permitted him to speak and even perform two gospel songs before the faithful.
Despite the opportunity, the singer says the atmosphere in the church remained uncomfortable throughout his appearance.
He claimed that after sharing his testimony and performing the songs, the congregation remained silent and did not applaud or respond positively as expected during gospel performances.
The incident deeply affected the musician, leading him to stop attending the church altogether. He explained that the experience left him feeling judged rather than welcomed.
Guardian Angel added that he now chooses to worship privately in his bedroom, where he feels more peaceful and spiritually connected without criticism from others.
However, his wife Esther Musila reportedly continues attending the same church despite the controversy.
