A section of women from Nandi County have defended President William Ruto after opposition leaders claimed that he will not win a second term in the 2027 General Election.
Speaking during a public meeting, the women said it is wrong for the opposition to start fighting President Ruto so early yet other presidents were allowed to serve for two terms. They insisted that Ruto should also be given enough time to finish his development plans.
The women also criticised former President Uhuru Kenyatta, saying people from the Rift Valley supported him fully for 10 years but did not benefit much from his government.
According to the women, many residents did not see major projects during Uhuru’s leadership despite voting for him in both elections. Some claimed that even water projects did not reach their areas during his time in office.
They praised President Ruto, saying that despite being in his first term, he has already started several development projects across the country.
The women mentioned roads, affordable housing projects and other government programmes aimed at helping ordinary Kenyans.
The leaders said the current government should be given enough time to work instead of facing constant political attacks from the opposition. They accused opposition leaders of starting early campaigns instead of supporting development.
The women also urged Kenyans to continue supporting President Ruto ahead of the 2027 elections, saying they believe he still has more to do for the country.
Their remarks come as political activities continue to increase across the country, with leaders from both the government and opposition camps already preparing for the next General Election.
