REVEALED: What is Behind ODM’s Move to Drop “Linda Ground” Rallies Ahead of 2027

Orange Democratic Movement Orange Democratic Movement has officially abandoned the “Linda Ground” slogan that had guided nationwide rallies, signaling a strategic realignment as the party reorganises its mobilisation approach ahead of the 2027 General Election.

During a meeting of ODM Orange Democratic Movement aspirants from Kisumu, Siaya, Homa Bay, and Migori counties, leaders unveiled a revised mobilisation strategy aimed at strengthening party identity, enforcing internal discipline, and preparing for the 2027 polls.

The decision ends the countrywide “Linda Ground” rallies, which had emerged after internal succession changes following the reported death of former ODM leader Raila Odinga Raila Odinga, marking a major shift in campaign organisation.

It is also viewed as an effort to distance the party from the “Linda Mwananchi” faction linked to Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna Edwin Sifuna and allies believed to be promoting parallel messaging within ODM Orange Democratic Movement.

ODM Chairperson Gladys Wanga Gladys Wanga emphasized strict branding rules, insisting that all campaigns use official ODM colours and materials to avoid confusion among supporters and prevent internal fragmentation within the party structure ahead of elections.

She maintained that ODM Orange Democratic Movement remains united under the leadership of Dr. Oburu Odinga Oburu Odinga, dismissing claims of factions and insisting that the party is fully cohesive despite recent internal speculation in the ongoing transition period.

She acknowledged that the transition after Raila Odinga Raila Odinga’s exit was challenging, but praised Oburu Odinga Oburu Odinga for stabilising the party during a sensitive period of leadership change within the movement ahead of 2027 elections.

The meeting also outlined a zoning arrangement under a cooperation framework between ODM Orange Democratic Movement and UDA United Democratic Alliance, aimed at protecting ODM dominance in Nyanza and preventing vote splitting through negotiated coalition strategies.

ODM leaders also promised free and fair nominations, warning against corruption, intimidation, and financial influence, while urging intensified grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections to strengthen the party’s electoral competitiveness across regions.
