Caleb Amisi Pushes for Sifuna to Fly Opposition Flag in 2027 Presidential Race

Caleb Amisi has declared that Edwin Sifuna is the best candidate to lead the opposition in the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking in Kitale on Saturday, May 16, Amisi said young Kenyans are eager to see a new generation of leaders take charge of the country.

He argued that the opposition risks handing President William Ruto a second term if it fails to support a youthful candidate.

According to the Saboti legislator, the Linda Mwananchi team was formed to give hope to young people who are demanding meaningful change and fresh leadership.

“Our generation wants new people, and we cannot afford to make mistakes in the coming election because young people want a new face in this game,” Amisi said.

He warned that many young voters could stay away from the polls if the opposition settles on an older political figure instead of Sifuna.

“The reason we formed this team was to give hope to young people. It was not about supporting Gachagua, Kalonzo or any other opposition leader. It was about ensuring we send President Ruto home,” he added.

Amisi said the opposition must unite behind Sifuna if it wants to inspire the youth and avoid voter apathy in 2027.

His remarks come as Sifuna continues to gain support within opposition circles. The Nairobi senator has become one of the most outspoken critics of the Kenya Kwanza administration and has built a strong following among younger voters.

Eugene Wamalwa has also indicated that he would be willing to support Sifuna if his chances of becoming president appear strong.

Speaking on a recent podcast, Wamalwa said opposition leaders are prepared to sacrifice their personal ambitions to ensure the “Wantam” agenda succeeds in removing the current administration from power.

The growing calls for Sifuna to contest the presidency highlight increasing pressure within the opposition to embrace youthful leadership and present a fresh face capable of energizing voters ahead of the 2027 General Election.
