A political exchange within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) camp has taken a dramatic turn after Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi sharply responded to criticism from East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) member Winnie Odinga.

Mbadi dismissed Winnie’s remarks and told her she does not have the experience or leadership record to lecture him on how to run the National Treasury.

The public disagreement began during the burial of the mother of Richard Onyonka in Kisii County on Friday, May 15, 2026.

While addressing mourners, Winnie criticized Mbadi for what she described as mixing politics with his duties as Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury.
