Kenyans Among Africans Ordered to Leave Cambodia By May 31 or Face Jail Term, KSh 1m Fine

Fear and uncertainty have gripped many Africans living in Cambodia after the Southeast Asian nation issued a tough immigration directive ordering foreigners from several African countries, including Kenya, to leave the country before May 31 or face arrest, imprisonment, and heavy fines.

The strict warning was issued by Cambodia’s General Department of Immigration under the Ministry of Interior as authorities announced the start of a nationwide crackdown targeting undocumented foreigners.

According to the directive, all affected African nationals currently residing in Cambodia must leave the country before the end of May, regardless of whether they had previously cleared immigration penalties or overstayed fines.

Failure to comply with the order could result in severe legal consequences. WATCH VIDEO HERE.

Cambodian authorities warned that any foreigner found within the country after June 1 would immediately be arrested and prosecuted under immigration laws.

Offenders risk serving a two-year jail term and paying a penalty of up to $8,000, equivalent to nearly KSh 1 million, before being deported back to their home countries.
