Cherargei has said that if the United States of America and other partners want to set up a regional screening and quarantine centre in Kenya, then it should be allowed to happen.
He said there is no need to block such a plan because it can bring many good things to the country.
He explained that this kind of centre can help Kenya become a strong regional place where diseases like cholera, Ebola, and other dangerous infections can be checked and controlled in a better way.
He said Kenya can become an important centre in Africa where people from many countries come for screening and health safety checks.
Cherargei also said that this project can bring many job chances for Kenyans, especially young people who are struggling to find work.
He said jobs can come in hospitals, laboratories, offices, cleaning work, security jobs, and even research support work. He said this will help many families to earn money and improve their lives.
He added that when Kenya works with international partners, local doctors and nurses can also learn new skills.
He said they can be trained on better ways of handling diseases and using modern medical machines. This, he said, will make Kenya’s health system stronger than before.
The senator also said that some people should not fear or politicize such projects. He said cooperation with other countries is a good thing and it helps Kenya to grow.
He believes that if Kenya rejects such opportunities, it will remain behind while other countries move forward.
Cherargei said Kenya should aim to become a regional leader in health matters. He said this can only happen if the country opens its doors to international support and investment in the health sector.
He added that strong partnerships can also help Kenya prepare better for future disease outbreaks and emergencies.
He finished by saying that Kenya should think about development and progress, not fear. He said if the country handles this well, it can become a very important health hub in Africa and bring pride to Kenyans.
