“Do not think people are just making noise. They are speaking because they want a better life,” Pastor Lectures ODM Linda Ground Leaders, Wetang’ula in Kisumu amid Wantam Cheers

A burial ceremony in Nyando Constituency, Kisumu County, turned political after a pastor boldly criticised Kenyan leaders in front of senior ODM politicians and National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, drawing loud cheers from mourners.WATCH VIDEO HERE.

The emotional event was held during the burial of Mama Doris Okello, the mother of Nyando MP Jared Okello, at the family home in Nyalenda village.

Several top political leaders attended the ceremony, including ODM leader Oburu Oginga, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula, Kisumu Governor Gladys Wanga, and Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo.

However, it was Pastor Samuel Misiani’s fiery sermon that captured the attention of mourners after he openly told politicians that Kenyans were frustrated by the rising cost of living and the lack of meaningful change.

Addressing the leaders directly, the pastor warned them not to ignore the voices of ordinary citizens.

“Do not think people are just making noise. They are speaking because they want a better life,” he told the gathering as mourners applauded loudly.

The preacher said many Kenyans were struggling economically and had grown tired of empty political promises.WATCH VIDEO HERE.

According to him, the reactions from the crowd reflected the frustrations being experienced by citizens across the country.

At one point, Pastor Misiani asked mourners who desired a better future to raise their hands, prompting an overwhelming response from the crowd.

“People are saying they are tired of following leaders without seeing change in their lives,” he stated as cheers erupted from different sections of the burial gathering.

The remarks appeared to place political leaders attending the funeral in an uncomfortable position as mourners openly supported the pastor’s message.

Despite the political tension, the preacher later shifted his focus toward encouraging citizens to recognise their power in shaping the country’s future.

He told the mourners that leadership change would only come when ordinary Kenyans became more conscious of their influence.

“Power belongs to the people, not politicians,” the pastor said.

He further urged Kenyans to pray for honest leaders who cannot easily be compromised by political interests or personal gain.

The burial came at a time when political temperatures continue rising across the country amid public concerns over the economy, fuel prices, unemployment, and governance.

The incident in Kisumu now adds to growing signs of public dissatisfaction that continue to dominate political conversations ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Even so, mourners later continued with the burial ceremony peacefully as leaders joined the family in paying tribute to the late Mama Doris Okello.
