Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has once again taken aim at Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, calling him “a puppet of a political conman” and declaring his support for a challenger in the 2027 elections.
Speaking at a community event in Nairobi, Salasya accused Sifuna of betraying Nairobi residents by failing to keep Governor Johnson Sakaja in check.
He claimed that instead of holding the county government accountable, Sifuna had chosen to align himself with political deals that had nothing to do with the welfare of the people.
Salasya openly endorsed Wilfred Bosire, the chairman of Nairobi’s Matatu Crew Association, as the candidate to unseat Sifuna in the next general election.
“Bosire understands the struggles of ordinary people in Nairobi. He is a leader who will stand for the public, not for political bargains,” Salasya said.
The MP’s attack comes against the backdrop of growing tensions between him and the ODM leadership.

The MP’s attack comes against the backdrop of growing tensions between him and the ODM leadership.
Salasya, a member of the Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K), has accused ODM party boss Raila Odinga and his allies of working too closely with President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA), undermining opposition unity.
Earlier this year, Salasya criticised Sifuna for endorsing a cooperation framework between ODM and UDA. According to Salasya, Sifuna had initially spoken against the agreement but later changed his position after pressure from Raila.
“He was sent to deceive Kenyans, and now he is reading from the same script as those he once criticised,” Salasya alleged.
The endorsement of Bosire marks Salasya’s latest move to position himself as a vocal critic of what he calls “politics of convenience” in Nairobi.
Bosire, known for his strong grassroots network among public transport operators, has not yet officially announced his candidature but has welcomed Salasya’s backing.
Despite the controversy, Salasya insists his criticism is about defending the interests of Nairobi residents and upholding accountability.
“We cannot have leaders who serve at the mercy of political conmen. The people deserve better,” he said.
