Residents of Kayole were left in shock after a suspected thief was attacked by bees shortly after stealing a phone worth Ksh 2,000.
According to witnesses, the man allegedly snatched the phone from a pedestrian along a busy road in Kayole before taking off at high speed.
The victim screamed for help, attracting the attention of boda boda riders and nearby residents who immediately began chasing the suspect.
The chase did not last long, as the suspect suddenly ran into a nearby bush while trying to escape. Moments later, he began shouting loudly and rolling on the ground. People who were close to the scene said a swarm of bees had attacked him unexpectedly.
“He started crying and begging for help. The bees were all over his face and body,” one resident said.
The angry crowd surrounded the area as the man continued screaming in pain. Some residents claimed the bees may have been disturbed from a hive hidden in the bushes.
The victim later recovered the stolen phone as residents watched the suspect struggle to breathe. Others wanted to beat him, but a few people urged the crowd to stay calm and wait for police.
Minutes later, local security officers arrived and took the man away for treatment before further investigations.
