The Lighthouse Ministers Nairobi has suspended one of its members following an alleged acid attack incident involving a woman identified as Mary Claire from Kibra.
According to reports, the suspect, identified as Elvis Opiyo, was arrested by police and is being held at the Kibera Police Station as investigations continue.
It is alleged that he paid school fees for Mary, who dumped him after her graduation.
Elvis, who was angered by the fact that she moved on after leaving him, allegedly sent a man who attacked her with acid.
The suspect was arrested by members of the public, who beat him mercilessly before he was rescued by the police.
The officers took the suspect to the hospital before he was taken into custody.
Mary was rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital, where she was admitted in critical condition.
Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko took to social media platforms to call for the arrest of the prime suspect, Elvis, who was arrested by police as investigations into the matter continue.
In an official statement, the ministry expressed sympathy for Mary Claire and distanced itself from the alleged actions, stating that the individual said to be involved is known to the ministry but acted in a personal capacity.
