"We Are Watching" Listen to Sen Enock Wambua's Message to Kalonzo Ahead of Naming of Opposition's Flagbearer

Senator Enoch Wambua now claims that the Ukambani region is keenly watching the movements of the Wiper party boss Kalonzo Musyoka saying that it is time the former vice president be the president of the republic of Kenya.

Wambua claims that as leaders, they are watching out the former vice president so as not be played the way he was played by the former Prime Minister the late Raila Odinga for three executive time and then after the elections joined the government of the day.

In early March 2026, Wambua urged the coalition to name its presidential candidate by June 2026 at the latest to avoid chaos and ensure a strong challenge against President William Ruto in 2027. Speaking on a Kamba-language radio program, he stated:

“The time for dithering is over. We should give ourselves up to the maximum month of June this year to unveil our presidential candidate... If we don’t, even the best candidate cannot succeed.”

He expressed strong confidence in the outcome, adding:“From where I sit, I have no doubts about who our presidential candidate will be.”

This came amid reports of internal rivalries, with Wambua dismissing Matiang'i's proposals (such as public involvement in selection) and insisting Kalonzo's candidature is "accepted across board."
In one instance, Wambua reportedly declared he would not allow Kalonzo to be micromanaged, framing Matiang'i's involvement as potentially divisive or misleading.

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has been vocal about his presidential ambitions, stating he received a direct mandate from his party's National Delegates Congress in October 2025.

In late December 2025, he announced that the United Opposition would unveil its flagbearer in the first quarter of 2026 (by March/April), describing the coalition as a "government-in-waiting" united against state "looting" and betrayal.

However, as March 2026 progresses, no final announcement has materialized, fueling tensions. Supporters of Kalonzo (including Wambua) argue he is the most tested and unifying figure, while others push for broader consultations or alternative candidates like Matiang'i.

Wambua's messages carry an implicit warning tone—often echoed in political discourse as "we are watching" to those perceived as undermining Kalonzo or delaying the process.
