What President Ruto Captured Doing With Senator Oburu During Migori Visit Leaving Many Stunned

Kenyans were left talking after President William Ruto was captured on camera playing the traditional Ajua board game during his visit to Migori County on Wednesday in December 2025.

The rare moment, which quickly spread on social media, showed the Head of State relaxed and engaging with local leaders and residents after touring the historic Thimlich Ohinga site. He was accompanied by Migori Senator Oburu Odinga and other leaders from the region.

The visit was part of President Ruto’s tour of Migori, where he attended the Piny Luo Cultural Festival, an event meant to celebrate Luo culture, history, and unity.

Many Kenyans praised the President for taking time to appreciate local traditions, saying it showed respect for culture and a willingness to connect with people at the grassroots level.

The Ajua game, which is popular among communities in western Kenya, became a symbol of the President’s interaction with local heritage.

During his address at the festival, President Ruto surprised many by openly speaking about the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

He said that despite their long-standing political and ideological differences, Raila played a significant role in shaping his political journey.

The President noted that their paths crossed many times in Parliament and national politics, and those engagements helped him grow as a leader.

President Ruto went on to praise Raila Odinga for his strong stand on democracy, equity, and justice, saying these were values that helped strengthen the country.

He also remembered Raila as a leader who believed in inclusivity and equal opportunities for all Kenyans, regardless of their background.

The President recalled their moments of cooperation, especially during critical national conversations, and said such engagements helped push Kenya forward.

The Head of State also mentioned Raila Odinga’s death, which occurred in India, describing it as a big loss not only to his family but also to the nation.

He urged Kenyans to remember Raila’s contributions by embracing unity and peaceful coexistence.

According to President Ruto, the country can only progress if leaders and citizens learn to work together despite political differences.
