Ruto Set Internet on Fire After Admitting He Destroys Buildings Just to Build Again

President William Ruto has sparked fresh debate after making a striking remark about his long standing involvement in construction, saying he has been buying cement every week for the past 30 years.

Speaking while highlighting his development record, Ruto said construction has been a constant part of his life, both publicly and privately.

He claimed that he builds “everywhere,” adding that even at his farm, he sometimes demolishes existing structures simply to put up new ones.

“I have been buying cement for the last 30 years. Every week, even today. I do construction everywhere.

If you go to my farm, sometimes when there is nothing to construct, I break what is there so I can build again,” Ruto said.

The statement immediately drew mixed reactions online. Supporters praised the President as a hands-on leader obsessed with development, saying the comment reflects his drive to keep the economy moving through construction and infrastructure.

Some argued it explains his strong push for roads, housing projects, and major public works across the country.

Critics, however, took a different view. Some questioned the symbolism of demolishing functional structures just to rebuild, arguing that it reflects excess rather than necessity.

Others used the remark to reopen debates about public spending, priorities, and whether constant construction translates to improved living standards for ordinary Kenyans.

Political analysts noted that the comment fits into Ruto’s broader image as a leader who sells himself as a tireless builder, often using personal stories to underline his development agenda.

President William Ruto made the remarks while speaking publicly about his long history in construction and development, reiterating that building infrastructure remains central to his leadership and economic strategy.
