Miguna Miguna Sparks Controversy After Blaming Jirongo for Naivasha–Nakuru Crash

Firebrand lawyer and political activist Miguna Miguna has ignited fresh controversy following his remarks on a fatal head-on collision involving a 65-seater bus on the Naivasha–Nakuru highway.

Miguna publicly blamed former Lugari Member of Parliament Cyrus Jirongo for allegedly causing the accident, comments that have drawn strong reactions from the public and the victim’s supporters.

The crash, which shocked the nation, occurred along one of Kenya’s busiest and most dangerous highways.

It resulted in multiple casualties and renewed concerns over road safety, reckless driving, and enforcement of traffic laws.

As investigations into the incident continue, Miguna took to social media to offer his opinion, asserting that Jirongo’s actions behind the wheel were responsible for the tragic collision.

Miguna’s remarks, however, have not been backed by official investigative findings.

Authorities have yet to release a conclusive report detailing the cause of the accident, urging the public to allow due process to take its course.

Despite this, Miguna insisted that accountability must be demanded, arguing that influential individuals should not be shielded from scrutiny simply because of their political or social status.

The comments have divided opinion. Some Kenyans applauded Miguna for speaking boldly and demanding responsibility in a country where road carnage claims thousands of lives annually.

Others criticized him for making accusatory statements before investigators have completed their work, calling his remarks insensitive to grieving families and potentially misleading.

Legal experts have cautioned that attributing blame prematurely can complicate investigations and inflame public emotions.

They emphasized the importance of relying on forensic evidence, eyewitness accounts, and police reports before drawing conclusions.

As the nation mourns those affected by the Naivasha–Nakuru tragedy, Miguna’s statements have once again highlighted his confrontational style and willingness to challenge prevailing narratives.

Ultimately, the final determination of responsibility rests with investigators, whose findings will be crucial in delivering justice and preventing similar tragedies on Kenya’s roads.
