Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has accused the International Criminal Court (ICC) of turning a blind eye to the plight of the people of Tanzania.
Khalwale made the statement on his official X, formerly Twitter, reacting to reports of ICC sentencing former militia leader Ali Al Rahman to 20 years in prison for crimes against humanity and war crimes in Sudan.
On December 10, 2025, Khalwale asked if the ICC does not see what is being posted on X about the leadership of Tanzania.
Meanwhile, President Samia Suluhu Hassan has continued to face criticism following the deaths of civilians who were killed during the post-election violence witnessed in October 2025.
The opposition accused her administration of killing hundreds of civilians, burying them in mass graves in attempts to conceal the exact number of civilians killed by the police.
The United States of America revealed that it is reviewing its relationship with Tanzania over the violation of human rights.
The European Union called on the government of Tanzania to release bodies of victims who were killed during the post-election violence, back to their families for proper burial.
