What TZ Has Done to Kenyan Caught Sneaking Into Tanzania With Bombs

The Tanzanian Police Force is detaining a Kenyan-American national allegedly arrested while trying to cross into the country with deadly weapons.

Charles Onkuri Ongeta, a US Soldier holding a Sergeant rank, was reportedly nabbed in Tarime, while trying to enter from the Kenyan side.

Tarime Rorya police claims he was found with four CS M68 grenade bombs, which the government lists as illegal in the country.

In a statement, the police force has stated that the suspect is being held for further questioning as a probe into the matter continues.

"According to the law on possession of weapons, even if he had applied for permission to bring them into the country, he would not have been allowed to do so," the statement reads in part.

"Evidence is being collected in parallel with questioning on the allegations so that appropriate action can be taken against him," it further stages, according to BBC.
