"Not Second Place" - Sifuna Reportedly Leads Bold Rejection Of Deputy Role Insisting On Presidency

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has firmly rejected suggestions that he settle for a deputy presidential slot in 2027.

"We are going for the presidency not the deputy presidency" he declared during his response.

His comments came after DCP deputy leader Cleophas Malala proposed him as a possible running mate for Kalonzo Musyoka or another opposition flagbearer. Malala had suggested the arrangement as a way to unite the wider opposition front.

Malala a former Kakamega Senator had recently rallied behind Sifuna vowing to support his presidential ambitions. He praised Sifuna's leadership and called for stronger unity within the Mulembe community heading into the next election.

Sifuna however made his position unmistakably clear rejecting any supporting role in the race. His stance follows his recent endorsement as presidential candidate for the Linda Mwananchi movement during a strategy meeting.

That meeting took place at Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya's residence involving key movement figures. Sifuna's declaration comes amid strong polling numbers and expanding political alliances across different regions.
