According to reports, Geoffrey Ochieng Asembo left his home at around 12:10 a.m. despite his wife urging him not to go out so late. He reportedly told her he would be back shortly but did not reveal where he was going.
Investigators were later informed that Geoffrey allegedly went to visit a woman identified as Cocheptor Awour.
At around 5:00 a.m., a man identified as "Saki," who was reportedly suspected to be in a relationship with the woman, allegedly arrived at the house. Witnesses claimed he realized another man was inside after knocking on the door and not receiving a response. It is alleged that he forced his way into the house through one side of the iron-sheet structure.
According to witnesses, Saki allegedly armed himself with a knife and attacked the occupants. Geoffrey was reportedly stabbed in the stomach. He is said to have attempted to flee but collapsed a short distance away and died from his injuries. The woman reportedly managed to escape after she too was allegedly targeted during the attack.
Police are searching for both the suspect and the woman to assist with ongoing investigations. The exact circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation, and any criminal responsibility will ultimately be determined by the courts.
The tragic incident has left Geoffrey's family mourning and has sparked renewed discussion about the devastating consequences that relationship disputes can have.
