Waruguru Alleges Hired Goons Hijacked Nanyuki Protests Over Proposed Ebola Facility

Former Laikipia Woman Representative Cate Waruguru has accused unidentified individuals of infiltrating demonstrations in Nanyuki and turning what she described as peaceful protests into scenes of unrest. WATCH VIDEO OF HER SPEAKING.

Speaking to journalists on Monday, Waruguru claimed that residents had gathered to express concerns over reports that an Ebola quarantine and treatment facility could be established at the Nanyuki Military Air Base.

According to her, the demonstrations initially proceeded peacefully before individuals from outside the county allegedly joined the crowds and disrupted the protests.

Waruguru argued that local residents were exercising their constitutional right to voice concerns about a project they believe could affect their community.

She maintained that the original protesters were not responsible for some of the incidents that occurred later, including the burning of tyres and destruction witnessed in parts of the town.

The gubernatorial aspirant alleged that the unrest was caused by hired troublemakers whose actions diverted attention from the issues residents wanted addressed.

She said the demonstrations were intended to seek clarification from the government regarding the reported facility and its potential impact on the area.

According to Waruguru, the actions of the alleged infiltrators created confusion and shifted public focus away from the concerns that had brought residents to the streets.

She called for investigations to establish who was responsible for the disturbances and whether the unrest was planned.
