United Opposition Under Fire as Kioni Warns Matiang’i Over Coalition Entry

 

Political tensions within Kenya’s opposition have intensified after senior politician James Kioni issued a strong warning regarding the possible role of former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i in the emerging United Opposition coalition.

Kioni cautioned that if Matiang’i fully commits to the opposition alliance, his political prospects could be weakened rather than strengthened.

In remarks that have since circulated widely across political and social platforms, he suggested that being absorbed into the coalition might “strangle” the former CS’s chances of mounting a strong political bid.
