Sifuna Faces Major 2027 Pressure as He's Warned on What Might Happen if He Fails to Seek Presidency

Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has escalated the debate over the 2027 presidential race by tying his political future to Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna's next move, warning that unexpected political developments could follow if the senator declines to contest the country's top seat.

In a statement shared on his X account on Sunday, June 28, Amisi declared that Sifuna is the only presidential candidate he is prepared to support in the 2027 General Election, dismissing speculation that he could eventually rally behind any other contender.

The outspoken lawmaker insisted that his position is driven by his long-standing campaign for generational change in Kenya's leadership, saying the country should move away from relying on politicians he described as the "old guards."

"It must be very clear to naysayers that the only person I will support for president of the Republic of Kenya in 2027 is Edwin Sifuna," Amisi wrote.

However, he added a dramatic twist to his endorsement by suggesting that Sifuna's decision not to vie for the presidency could trigger a major political announcement.

"If he does not vie and chooses to support the same old guards we want to remove from the political scene, then there will be some breaking news," Amisi stated without revealing what action he could take.

The Saboti MP maintained that the younger generation deserves an opportunity to shape the country's leadership instead of continuing to rally behind familiar political figures.

"We must achieve the call of our generation na sio tafadhali," he added, emphasizing that he would remain consistent in advocating for leadership renewal regardless of political pressure.

Amisi's remarks come at a time when conversations around the 2027 Presidential race are gathering momentum, with several politicians positioning themselves ahead of what is expected to be a fiercely contested election.
