Salary Per Month In Kenya Shilling Village Elders Will Be Receiving Under Ruto's Govt

President William Ruto has approved a monthly stipend of Ksh3,000 for village elders, a move hailed as a major step towards recognising and dignifying grassroots administrators.

The announcement was made, during a meeting with National Government Administration Officers (NGAOs) at State House, Nairobi.

The President stated that the stipend will take effect from July 1, 2026, once it is included in the national budget.

Village elders, who have long served without formal recognition, will now be officially registered, issued identification cards, and recognised as civil servants.
