Process Of Impeaching President Ruto Takes Unexpected Turn As Kenyans Urged To Do This — Details

Fresh political debate has emerged after two lawmakers, Njeri Maina and Caleb Amisi, revealed that discussions are underway regarding a possible impeachment motion against President William Ruto.

The move has sparked widespread reactions across the country, with supporters and critics of the government weighing in on the matter.

According to the legislators, consultations are currently taking place as they gather views from members of the public before formally presenting any motion.

Speaking on the issue, Njeri Maina stated that she has been engaging various stakeholders and citizens regarding the possibility of initiating impeachment proceedings.

She noted that the process requires careful planning and adherence to constitutional procedures.

“I have engaged with as many as I could on the president’s impeachment issue. Have a timeline,” Maina said, indicating that discussions have already advanced beyond preliminary stages.

On his part, Caleb Amisi called on Kenyans to actively participate by providing evidence and information that could support the proposed motion.

He argued that public involvement is essential in ensuring accountability and transparency in governance.

The development comes at a time when political tensions remain high, with sections of the opposition and civil society groups continuing to criticize the government's handling of key national issues, including the economy, taxation, and public service delivery.

However, any impeachment attempt would face significant constitutional and political hurdles. The process requires substantial support within Parliament and must meet the legal threshold outlined in the Constitution.

The latest Facebook post by the lawmakers has generated intense discussion online, with many Kenyans expressing differing opinions on whether the impeachment push is justified.

As public consultations continue, attention will now turn to whether the initiative gains enough momentum to progress into a formal parliamentary motion in the coming weeks.
