Kenyans are being urged to prepare for a wet Labour Day period as the Kenya Meteorological Department (Kenya Met) continues to warn of ongoing heavy rainfall across several parts of the country.
According to the latest seasonal outlook and recent updates, much of the country is already experiencing enhanced rainfall linked to the March–June long rains season, which is typically the wettest period of the year.
The forecast indicates that regions such as the Lake Victoria Basin, the Highlands West and East of the Rift Valley, parts of the Rift Valley, and Nairobi are likely to receive near-average to above-average rainfall, with occasional intense downpours expected.
Meteorologists have cautioned that even areas not directly experiencing heavy rain could still face flash floods due to runoff from higher grounds.
