On Sunday, “Sifuna usilale!” chants rocked Kitengela on Saturday as a mammoth crowd turned up for the Linda Mwananchi tour led by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, Siaya Governor James Orengo and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino.
This came days after President William Ruto, had just delivered a speech about his administration’s plans to help young people access more job opportunities.
After his remarks, the president opened the floor for a question-and-answer session with students. Among those invited to speak was Jevin Oloo, a student who did not hesitate to share his honest opinion.
Taking the microphone, Oloo began by thanking the president for the chance to speak. However, his tone quickly turned firm as he urged the head of state to pay close attention to the concerns of ordinary citizens.
“If leaders do not listen to voters, they might have to listen to the returning officer during the next election,” Oloo said, drawing loud cheers from fellow students.
