"Mtachagua Kalonzo?" Migori Crowd Erupts as Ichung'wah Hits at Gachagua, Kalonzo, Matiang'i

Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah on Saturday toured Suba East in Migori County, where he attended an ODM Women Empowerment Programme held in Suna East.

The event turned political as the Kikuyu MP launched a scathing attack on opposition leaders, questioning their ability to challenge President William Ruto in a future presidential contest.

Addressing the crowd, Ichung’wah posed a question to residents, asking whether any of the opposition principals had the political strength to outmaneuver President Ruto.

In response, the crowd erupted in chants of “hawawezi,” signaling strong support for the president and dismissing the opposition’s chances.

Ichung’wah singled out Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, criticizing his long political career and accusing him of failing to build an independent support base.

He claimed that Kalonzo has spent decades in politics largely aligned with other leaders, particularly the late Raila Odinga, without establishing his own firm political footing.

The Majority Leader did not spare other opposition figures. He took aim at Democracy for the Citizens Party leader Rigathi Gachagua and Jubilee Party Deputy Leader Fred Matiang’i, both seen as potential presidential contenders.

Ichung’wah questioned their leadership qualities saying that Gachagua can't contests for any political seats following court ruling on his impeachment case.

In a sharp jab at Matiang’i, Ichung’wah mocked reports that the former Interior Cabinet Secretary had been seen dozing off during public meetings.

He wondered how a leader could fall asleep in the middle of a lively and noisy political gathering, suggesting it reflected a lack of energy and commitment.
