Mambo Ni Matatu”: Ruto Given Three Options for Stepping Down as President Before 2027 Elections

A new political slogan, “Mambo ni matatu,” has continued to gain attention across the country as political competition intensifies ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The phrase has been widely used in political rallies and online spaces by critics of President William Ruto, especially those aligned with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP).

According to narratives circulating within opposition circles, President Ruto is allegedly facing three possible political paths before the next election. Supporters of the slogan argue that the message reflects growing political pressure and shifting alliances as the country edges closer to a highly competitive electoral season.

The first option being highlighted by critics is voluntary resignation before 2027, a scenario they claim could ease political tension and allow for a smooth leadership transition. However, this remains a political argument rather than an official or constitutional process being considered.
