Claire, a 28-year-old woman from Kiambu County, has opened up about her unique love story with her husband Steve, a 68-year-old man, revealing how their relationship began on Facebook and later developed into marriage despite a 40-year age gap.
The couple first met online in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic when Steve, who was living in the United States at the time, came across Claire’s profile and sent her a friendly message. Their conversations became frequent, emotional, and eventually turned into a romantic connection.
When Steve returned to Kenya, he arranged for Claire, who was then in Mombasa, to travel to Nairobi so they could meet in person.
The two quickly bonded, and by the end of that year, they held a civil wedding ceremony. Claire was 24 at the time while Steve was 64.
Claire says that despite public criticism over their age difference, their relationship has remained strong and grounded in mutual respect. She describes Steve as patient, understanding, and emotionally supportive.
She also opened up about her health struggles, revealing that she was diagnosed early with fertility complications after undergoing surgery for fibroids.
