“I No Longer Want to Be Deputy Party Leader for ODM”: Big Blow to Oburu as Official Declares This

A fresh political storm has erupted after Godfrey Osotsi declared that he no longer wishes to serve as the Deputy Party Leader of the Orange Democratic Movement, instead identifying himself as the Deputy Party Leader of the “Linda Mwananchi” movement.

Osotsi’s remarks, which have quickly gone viral online, are being viewed as the latest sign of growing political realignments within the opposition as leaders begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Speaking during a political gathering, the Vihiga Senator appeared to distance himself from ODM’s traditional structures while emphasizing the need for a people-centered political movement focused on protecting ordinary Kenyans struggling with the high cost of living and economic pressure.

His comments come at a time when opposition politics in Kenya continue to experience internal shifts following recent cooperation talks between some ODM leaders and President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza administration.

The developments have triggered mixed reactions among supporters, with some accusing opposition leaders of abandoning their watchdog role while others defend the need for national unity and dialogue.

The phrase “Linda Mwananchi” has recently gained traction among politicians seeking to position themselves as defenders of ordinary citizens frustrated by taxes, unemployment, and rising prices of basic commodities.

Osotsi’s statement has now intensified speculation over possible divisions within ODM and the broader opposition movement.

Political analysts say several leaders are increasingly trying to establish independent political identities as the race toward 2027 slowly begins taking shape.

Kenyans on social media reacted strongly to the senator’s remarks, with supporters praising his boldness while critics questioned whether the declaration signaled deeper cracks inside the opposition camp.

Although ODM has not officially responded to the comments, the statement is expected to fuel fresh debate over the future direction of opposition politics and the growing influence of issue-based political movements in the country.
