Big Blow for Kindiki as Gachagua Reveals the Number of People Ruto Has Promised the DP Position

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has stirred political debate after alleging that President William Ruto has promised the position of Deputy President to seven different leaders ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Speaking during a recent political engagement, Gachagua claimed that the Head of State is juggling competing interests as he attempts to consolidate support across key voting blocs, particularly in Mount Kenya and Luo Nyanza regions.

He argued that the search for a suitable running mate has become a central issue in Kenya Kwanza’s internal political calculations.

According to Gachagua, several senior politicians have allegedly received private assurances from the President regarding the highly sought-after position.

He suggested that this approach could lead to growing mistrust and rivalry within the ruling coalition as ambitions collide ahead of the next general election.

The former Deputy President further alleged that the government is under pressure to retain support in regions that strongly backed the Kenya Kwanza alliance in 2022.

He claimed that shifting political loyalties and emerging opposition formations have forced intense behind-the-scenes negotiations over succession politics.

Gachagua also maintained that the competition for the deputy presidential slot reflects broader uncertainty within the ruling camp, arguing that leaders are increasingly positioning themselves early for 2027.

He warned that such political maneuvering could eventually expose fractures within the coalition if not carefully managed.

His remarks come amid a period of heightened political activity across the country, with leaders from various regions stepping up their engagements and alliances ahead of the next election cycle.

Analysts note that although the election is still over a year away, early succession politics are already shaping public discourse and party dynamics.

Gachagua, who has recently emerged as a vocal critic of the Kenya Kwanza administration following his fallout with President Ruto, has continued to position himself as a key opposition figure.

His latest claims are expected to fuel further political tension and debate over the stability of the ruling coalition and the future of its leadership structure.

Neither President Ruto nor State House has officially responded to the allegations.
