"You Worked With Him and Elevated Him, Now You Want Us to Believe He Was a Criminal?" Pauline Njoroge Question Ruto's Allegations Against Gachagua

President William Ruto has recently made allegations against his former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. However, political commentator and digital communications strategist Pauline Njoroge has raised questions about the timing and context of these claims.

Njoroge highlighted what she sees as a key inconsistency. The alleged incident that Ruto is now attributing to Gachagua reportedly occurred while the two leaders were working closely together in government. Many Kenyans have asked why no concerns were raised at the time if the allegations were true.

The situation is further complicated by Ruto's response when a young woman connected to the matter died in what was reported as an accident.

According to Njoroge, the President personally called the mother of the deceased to offer condolences. During that call, he described the young woman as a valued supporter who had worked with both men.

At no point did he express suspicion about the circumstances of her death or suggest anyone was responsible.

Njoroge says this response raises questions. If Ruto genuinely believed Gachagua had committed a serious offense, she asks, why would he continue working closely with him? Why would he later elevate Gachagua to the position of Deputy President, the second highest office in the country?

These concerns are shared by many observers, who note that a leader aware of a serious wrongdoing by a close ally would likely have acted differently. Njoroge points out that waiting until a political disagreement arises to make such allegations is unusual and difficult to explain.

The claims follow the impeachment attempt against Gachagua last year, which some observers described as politically motivated. Critics say the new allegations may be seen as part of ongoing political disputes rather than efforts to achieve accountability.

For now, Kenyans are closely following the story as it develops. Commentators like Njoroge continue to question the timing and consistency of the President's statements, keeping the public discussion active across social and mainstream media.
