Rigathi Gachagua Tells President Ruto to Ignore Gossip, Focus on Service Delivery

Former Deputy President Gachagua has urged President William Ruto to concentrate on development and public service instead of engaging in personal attacks and gossip.

Speaking on Monday, Gachagua stated, “I will engage you on issues. Mambo ya wenye hawana bibi na gym, wewe endelea,” a remark interpreted as a warning against wasting time on trivial controversies. He emphasized that the presidency should prioritize policies and programs that directly impact the lives of Kenyans rather than entertaining distractions....To Read More CLICK Here

Ruto fired back swiftly during a rally in Cheptais, Mt. Elgon, on March 17. He advised Gachagua to “go to the gym,” watch his diet, and reduce his “big belly,” while claiming Gachagua's physique might explain why he allegedly dozes off in official meetings.

The President also escalated with personal allegations, including claims about Gachagua's private life (such as rumored extramarital affairs or impregnating someone), which Gachagua dismissed as baseless “useless gossip” unbecoming of a sitting president.
Gachagua has since doubled down, vowing relentless scrutiny of Ruto's administration over the coming months leading to the 2027 elections.

He has accused Ruto of provoking chaos to potentially extend his tenure and criticized the shift to personal attacks over policy debates.

In related statements, Gachagua has positioned himself as a key opposition voice, promising to ensure Ruto becomes a one-term president through the ballot.

This public spat highlights deepening rifts within Kenya's political landscape ahead of 2027. What started as policy disagreements has morphed into a bitter personal feud, diverting attention from pressing issues like the economy, agriculture, and service delivery—precisely what Gachagua is now calling on Ruto to refocus on.

Observers note that such exchanges risk further polarizing the public, especially in regions like Mt. Kenya and Rift Valley, where both leaders have strong bases.

Gachagua, leading the DCP party, continues to rally support by framing himself as a champion of accountability, while urging the President to ignore distractions and deliver on promises.
