ODM leaders in Kilifi County have dismissed former Gender Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa’s decision to join the Pamoja African Alliance (PAA) in a bid to challenge Governor Gideon Mung’aro in the 2027 elections.
Jumwa previously contested the governorship in 2022 on a UDA ticket but lost to Mung’aro. She has now moved to PAA, a party led by Senate Speaker Amason Kingi.
ODM leaders insist that her party-hopping will not weaken Mung’aro’s grip on Kilifi politics.
Malindi MP Amina Mnyazi said Mung’aro remains the undisputed political leader of the county and urged residents to continue supporting him.
She also praised President William Ruto for appointing leaders from the Coast region into government, arguing that cooperation with the ruling administration has benefited the region.
Kaloleni MP Paul Katana echoed similar sentiments, warning residents against abandoning Mung’aro ahead of 2027.
Youth and Sports Secretary Fikirini Jacobs also cautioned against opposition politics, saying ODM leaders are firmly aligned with the government for development gains.
